"Thank you for the tickets. I really liked The Nutcracker. The most thing I liked was the Grandma...and the fight with the Mouse King and the Nutcracker and all the colors and the big tree...and the magic."
From a KidTix student

BALLETMET’S KIDTIX PROGRAM provides complimentary tickets for BalletMet’s home season performances to underserved children and special needs individuals who otherwise could not attend.

BalletMet is committed to breaking down the barriers to participation in the arts by providing accessible programming such as the KIDTIX program. During its season, BalletMet offers a specific, limited number of free performance tickets to recipients who are identified by area social service agencies, youth service organizations and faith-based groups. For many KIDTIX recipients, this BalletMet experience is a first-time exposure to a performance by a professional ensemble of artists in a full theatrical setting.

Several weeks prior to a performance, agencies are notified that tickets are available and are invited to contact BalletMet to arrange for their group to attend. BalletMet requires that chaperones from the agency accompany each KidTix group. In order to make the experience more enlightening, inspiring and entertaining, BalletMet provides agency chaperones with education materials prior to the performance. Materials include information about the performance they will be attending, the roles of each of the people who helped produce the ballet such as the choreographer, the costume designer, and the production manager, and theatre etiquette – how to conduct themselves as audience members. Links to online resources about dance and to BalletMet’s website are also included.

The KIDTIX recipient agencies represent diverse populations, especially those from underserved groups and those with special needs. BalletMet works with each of its ADA accessible theatre venues to ensure adequate accommodations for these individuals. BalletMet's Education Department is available to assist with any special requests made by agencies in order to provide a specific group with additional, tailored information to meet its needs.
