Dance Academy Intensive
Study Options
Programs are available for young dancers who wish to experience a higher level of concentration in their dance training to prepare for a career in dance. Curricula are designed to prepare students for either a classical ballet or contemporary dance track. Recommended courses of study with suggested electives for students who wish to expand their training even further have been developed for all levels of study.
- The Intensive Ballet Program is designed to take students of eight years of age beginning their dance studies, through to an advanced level of training in classical ballet, together with other dance techniques that are essential for a versatile classical ballet dancer.
- The Contemporary Dance Program is for students arriving at an Intermediate level of study whose skills and artistic direction leans towards modern and contemporary dance forms. Preparation for and advice on choice of college programs is an important part of student mentoring.
- The Pre-Professional Program is a full time dance program for those focused on a classical ballet career. Designed for High School graduates or seniors with a flexible schedule who have achieved an advanced level of dance this program will give the polish and education to help prepare young dancers for auditioning and professional life.
- The High School Dance Curriculum programs are designed to correspond with the Academic Content Standards of grades 9-12 for Dance and Physical Education and are appropriate for recognition for the Credit Flexibility Plan, to meet the required two semesters of Fine Arts, Physical Education requirements and Elective credits.
